Rakesh is a well-rounded administrative and management professional with more than 35 years of experience working in the public, private and charitable sectors, across the physical education, sport science, sports management, leisure, physical fitness and recreation industries - in Malaysia, Australia and the United Kingdom. A former professional athlete who has captained Malaysia in Cricket and represented the Malaysian Armed Forces in Hockey in National League Competitions. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom in 1998 in Sport Science (Coaching and Administration) with a 1st Class Honours. He is passionate about Sport for All, community development and social justice.

Highly experienced events manager and sports administrator who has served in a variety of capacities such as Director of Sports & Course Trainer, on the “Professional Football Task Force”, Coca-Cola Foundation/Malaysia-Global CSR Program, Malaysia Athletics Championships, International Olympic Committee Session, New Delhi Commonwealth Games, and as an ambassador for Doha Asian Games. An IT professional Manager at one of the Malaysia local bank with more than 20 years of experience in developing and promoting Kabaddi in Malaysia. A qualified technical official for local and international championships in Kabaddi, who currently serves as the Honorary Treasurer to the Malaysian Kabaddi Federation. In addition to Kabaddi, he is also passionate about travelling around the globe, meeting and engaging with various people.
